Welcome to FastZM. These terms are the agreement between you and FastZM for using the service. Please read them before you sign up.
Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy are part of them.
If you don’t agree, please don’t sign up for or use the service.
The service
FastZM turns the audio and video you upload into timed subtitles, and lets you polish them, translate them with AI, review them online and export them.
Speech recognition, AI polishing and translation are done by third-party providers. Machine output can contain mistakes, more so with strong accents, background noise or specialist terms, so review it before use. Where accuracy matters, such as legal or medical use, checking it is up to you.
We may change, add or retire features. If a change materially affects something you’ve paid for, we’ll tell you in advance by in-app notice or email.
Your account
You need an email address you can receive mail at, and it can’t be changed after you sign up. You must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian’s consent.
Keep your password safe and don’t share your account. Anything done with your account counts as done by you; if you think someone else has access, change your password right away and contact us.
Your account is for you alone. Don’t transfer, sell or lend it.
Credits
The service is paid for in credits, at the rates shown when you submit a task:
- Transcription is charged by the actual length of the file: minutes times the per-minute rate, rounded up. You see an estimate before submitting; the final charge follows the length actually transcribed and never exceeds the estimate.
- AI translation is charged by what it actually uses. An upper limit based on the length of the text is set aside when you submit, and afterwards you’re charged the actual amount, never more than that limit.
- Steps that fail cost nothing: the credits set aside for them come back automatically.
How long credits last depends on where they come from:
- Plan credits: granted once a month during your plan, counting from the day it started. Each month’s credits expire at the end of that month and don’t carry over.
- Credits you buy or redeem with a gift card: never expire.
- Bonus credits, such as a sign-up bonus: valid for the period stated when they’re given.
Credits that expire soonest are spent first, so plan credits are always used before credits you bought. Credits can only be used on the service; they can’t be cashed out, transferred or exchanged for money.
Plans and payment
Plans are paid for by billing period: monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly. A renewal starts when your current plan ends.
You can upgrade to a higher plan. The months of your current plan that haven’t started are credited in full at the price you paid, the new plan starts when payment succeeds, and its first month’s credits are reduced by what you’ve already used this month. Plans can’t be downgraded; you can buy a different one when yours ends.
A plan with automatic renewal is charged again at the end of each period. You can turn renewal off at any time before then, and the period you’ve paid for stays active.
Prices are as shown at checkout. Payments are handled by third-party payment providers. If you pay in a currency other than the one prices are listed in, the amount is converted at the exchange rate when you place the order.
Refunds follow our Refund Policy.
Your content
The files you upload and the subtitles you get are yours. You must have the rights or permission to use them, and processing them must not infringe anyone’s copyright, privacy or other rights.
To provide the service, you allow us to store, process and transmit your content as needed, including sending the audio to speech recognition providers and the subtitle text to AI providers, as set out in our Privacy Policy. We don’t publish your content or use it for anything other than providing the service.
Uploaded files are deleted automatically when their retention period ends, so keep your originals.
What you may not do
When using the service, you may not:
- upload or process content that is illegal or infringes anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- transcribe someone’s recording without their consent where the law requires it;
- attack or disrupt the service, or access it with automated tools without permission;
- claim bonus credits with false details or bulk-registered accounts, or otherwise get around the charges;
- resell or rent out the service, or let others use your account.
If you do, we may remove the content and suspend or close your account, and you are responsible for any loss caused to us or others.
Suspension and closure
We work to keep the service running, but it may be interrupted by maintenance, upgrades, third-party outages or events beyond our control. We announce planned maintenance in advance where we can.
You can stop using the service at any time, or contact us to close your account. Before you close it, you can ask for a refund under our Refund Policy; once it’s closed, any remaining credits and plan time are forfeited.
Accounts closed for breaking these terms get no refund of remaining credits or plan time.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we don’t guarantee that transcripts or translations are free of errors or fit for your particular purpose.
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses from using or being unable to use the service, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the loss.
Nothing here limits rights you have under the law where you live that can’t be excluded by agreement.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll publish changes on this page and update the date, and tell you about significant changes in advance by in-app notice or email.
If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you don’t agree, you can stop using the service.
